Alarming Rise in the Number of Zombie Computers
Cyber security firm McAfee says that it has detected nearly 12 million infected computers worldwide since the start of this year, which is a shocking 50% increase over 2008.
According to McAfee, the US has a huge number of hijacked computers, with almost 18% of machines in the country being infected. China comes second with a 13% computer infection rate, and the UK does better with 6%. However, Italy does best in this regard, with just 2-3% of its computers being infected.
According to Deloitte, which is a world famous consulting and accounting firm, the global cyber-security situation is getting worse with every passing day. Greg Pellegrino, from Deloitte, says that the problem is not only threatening personal security of users around the world, it could also have major economic impact. He urged that immediate action is the need of the hour and all the countries should come together to fight with this menace.
