As you will read in this article, the removal of a pain in the arse, from the poker table, can be accomplished without going under the knife, if you are diligent and persistent.

At the 2005 WSOP, there were couple of players who acted objectionably and (See our 2005 WSOP Views) they received penalties due to this objectionable behavior.

Playing poker will expose you to poker players that consistently believe that their feelings at the table are more important than anyone else’s feelings. They will behave as teenagers, consistently cursing, chide other players for the way they play their cards and money, or are downright rude (toward the female player these “teenage players” will actually make sexual advances via chat).

This is unacceptable in MOST poker rooms whether you are playing online or at a brick and mortar poker room. You do not need to just sit by and “take it”. There are things that you can do in either venue. Below you will find ways to handle both.

ONLINE POKER ROOMS

If you come across one of the above-described players, you can choose one of the following Options:

1. Notify the poker room manager via email or chat;
2. Block the chat of that particular player (in most rooms);
   
3. Turn off your chat altogether; or
4. Totally ignore the behavior and continue your game; or
5. Surgically remove the poker room from your computer.

When you open your account with a particular poker room, I suggest that you explore what options you have if/when you come up against such offensive behavior.

What do you need to provide to “support”?

• Do you need to know the player’s screen name?
• The table number or name of the table?
• When it occurred?; and/or
• Do you need to have information that is more specific to report the behavior?

One poker site, explained to me that I needed to have a copy of the chat log of what happened at the time and then they would investigate.

Then again, you could continuously notify the manager of this obnoxious behavior and see what happens.

Option Two is actually a very simple step in most poker rooms. Right click on the player/avatar and you need to make a choice whether you want to make notes on them or if you want to block them.

Personally, I have a problem with the third choice. You may be having an agreeable chat with someone else or want to have a chat…and you won’t be able to unless you go into AIM or Yahoo Messenger or some other way to chat, but then you could be kicked out of that poker room/site for “collusion”.

Option Four is the easiest step of all, if you have the patience to wait for them (the offender) to be knocked out (of a tournament) or for them to leave. It is very easy to fall into the trap of egging them on instead of getting them to stop. Even experienced poker players can fall into this trap.

Then there is Option Five. If you receive no help from that poker site, you may have to choose whether you want to continue to play on that site or remove your funds, delete their room from your computer and not return.

BRICK AND MORTAR POKER ROOMS

In a brick and mortar room, there is additional abusive behaviors that we should not tolerate, at all, for any reason, and that is the abuse of the poker room staff. The staff includes the cocktail servers, the dealers, the management, and even the cleaning personnel.

Now if you are in a brick and mortar poker room, the dealer at your table has the authority to stop any of this behavior. If he/she does nothing, you may want to bring the behavior to his/her attention. If he/she still does nothing, you should call the poker room manager over and explain the situation.

Most brick and mortar rooms have a zero (0) tolerance for any type of offensive behavior. An excited utterance may be excusable, but continuation of such behavior is not.

Just because a tourist or regular player has been drinking, does not give them license to ruin everyone else’s playtime, not even in Las Vegas.

I believe that it is up to all poker players to show these abusive people that they are not the only ones that like to have a good time. We should stand up for what is right — abusive and offensive behavior at the poker table is not!

How about the secrets of hop bets?

A hop bet is a little understood one roll, verbal bet you can make on any combination of numbers. For example, if you have an intuitive notion that the combination 4&1 will appear on the very next roll of the dice, you can place a bet for “4&1 hopping”. If the 4&1 do appear, you win. If 3&2, or any other combinations come up, you lose.

The payoff for a hop bet is usually 15:1. This means you can bet 2&3 hopping, or 4&2 hopping, or even 3&4 hopping. If you bet $5 on any of these bets and the very next roll is for exactly the numbers you bet, then you’ll win $75.

Most people don’t know this, but you can bet on hardways hopping and get a higher payoff. If you think a hardway four is “due” you can bet, for example, “$5 2&2 hop”. Now the good thing about hard way hops is that they pay double - instead of 15:1 (on a regular hop bet) you get 30:1 on your wagers! So, if you bet $5 hardway 4 hop, and the very next roll is 2 & 2, you’ll win $150 (at 30:1) instead of $35 at 7:1 - $110 more!

Remember though, a hardway hop (at 30:1) is for one roll only, while a regular hardway bet (at 7:1 or 9:1) stays up until it wins or loses. Also, make sure your favorite casino pays 30:1 on hard way hops. Some of the older casinos still pay 15:1, so ask first to make sure.

At 30:1 this means you can bet $5 hard way hopping on the 4,6, 8 or 10 and win $150 as opposed to winning $35 (7:1) on the 4/10 or $45 (9:1) on the 6/8.

Many people also use hop bets when someone is setting the dice and has developed his own signature roll. This is usually evident when the shooter bets big on a certain number. Let’s say the point is six and he buys the 4 or 10 for $50. Instead of you buying the same number you can “hop” it and win lots more money!

You can also hop the seven on the comeout. This is rarely done, but it can be very profitable - if you do it correctly! The seven can be made three ways - 3 & 4, 2 &5, and 1 & 6, so your bets must be in multiples of $3. You can use a simple $3 progression ($3, $6, $9, etc.), especially if the shooter sets the dice and bets big on the passline.

Finally, if you like to lay bets, you probably thought of hedging your even lay bets (4, 6, 8 or 10) with a hardway wager. If the hard ten rolls, you lose your $80 lay bet but win $84 (at 7:1) from the hard way. Now, instead of betting $12 hard ten you can bet $3 hard ten hopping, which can pay 30:1 instead of 7:1. Remember though, that this is a one roll bet so it must be replaced on every roll. However, if you lose the $80 when the hard way rolls you can win $90 ($3 at 30:1) on the hard ten. And if you win your lay bet you will only lose $3 instead of $12.

When arriving in one of the most exciting cities on the planet, Las Vegas, Nevada, I could not help but think about how interesting my Company’s meetings would be. I knew it was a time for serious decisions and keeping a focused mind, the meetings were a great success and it was now time to relax and enjoy my environment of bright lights and all night Las Vegas entertainment.

My first encounter in my luxurious hotel’s casino was the sound of a woman behind the roulette wheels screaming for joy after hitting a jackpot of 12,225.00 dollars on a slot machine that took quarters and the crowd that had gathered around her seemed to be just as happy for her as she was for herself. That’s entertainment!

Do you know what a didgeridoo is? There are so many things in this life that are unknown to us. I play the didgeridoo. It’s a sacred Australian Aborigine instrument, arguably one of the oldest instruments in humankind’s long history. If you type didgeridoo into your search engine you will see hundreds of sites about this thing that you’ve never even heard of. You don’t know how many people I’ve mentioned it to around the world that never have even heard the word.

You place your mouth in the whole at the top of the hollowed wood upon the bees wax coating. Then you vibrate your lips against the edge of the wood, filling your cheeks with air at the same time to keep the sound constant. The sound never stops and this is because you circular breathe-in through the nose and out through your mouth at the same time. Sounds difficult, and it is for some like myself, it took me 9 months to get my mind around it. A friend of mine however did it in a couple of days, and babies breathe this way naturally! Pretty cool.

They are all individual (like snowflakes and humans) and characteristics such as key, wood type, length and artist are given. Echo Tree specifically mentions that all their artwork is individually hand-painted by Aborigine artists and no two are alike. So unlike many Western musical instruments that are ubiquitously constructed, you can have one that is different to all others.

The didgeridoo is just another example of how the Internet or World Wide Web can be the medium of discovery in our lives. It is a collective source for all the ideas, creations and beliefs in our world. Anyone that connects can add to the rich melting pot of consciousness.
